All these companies are skirting the minimum wages laws by using the "independent contractor" ploy. It is time that a class action lawsuit is initiated to force them to state the reasonably expected time it will take to complete the assignment and resulting hourly compensation (just like "truth in lending" laws require interest to be clearly stated). Anyone willing to join?

Intelli-shop is a great company to work for! The schedulers are very quick to respond to my emails. I had a very sad thing happen and had to cancel several shops on short notice. I received three emails offering their condolences and sympathies, saying the last thing I should be worrying about was mystery shopping. What a relief in a very stressful time. And my shopper rating was unaffected.

I did my first shop for them a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. I did my second one this week and noticed the receipt had not been uploaded. I did upload it, but uploaded it again for good measure in case there had been some error. I've since learned that is their cryptic was of not paying you. I emailed them asking about the receipt not being there and received this delightful reply:
Hello,
You were recognized as a shopper as well as the report be (sic) very offensive to the client. You put some personal opinions in the report that you should not have. We only want the facts of the shop not your opinion of an associate bad acne along with other personal opinion. The client was very unhappy with the report.

Well! I had mentioned that the greeter had bad acne, which was not an opinion, but a fact. You'd think they would want to know that because it is not giving a good first impression. I always overwrite to let them pare down what they don't want, rather than underwrite. I asked twice how I was recognized but was not told. I also received an email from someone else at CORI saying I could not do this location of the chain again, but could do other locations. I do not believe I was recognized, I believe that because I had said, among many other factual observations, that the greeter had bad acne, that they basically stole my pay. I've been doing mystery shops for years with other companies and this has never happened before. I guess CORI only want glowing reports which defeats the whole purpose of mystery shopping.
